Class Descriptions

Chair Yoga- Chair yoga is a gentle practice in which postures are performed while seated and/or with the aid of a chair. Just like any yoga practice, chair yoga increases flexibility, strength, and body awareness. When standing poses are included in a Chair yoga class, the chair is used to help with and improve balance. This class may also include pranayama breathing techniques and meditation to promote focus, mental clarity and relaxation.

Restorative Yoga- Restorative yoga is a restful practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. This class is suitable for practitioners of all levels. During this class you will hold yoga poses (asanas) for a longer duration using props like yoga blocks, blankets, and bolsters. It is a practice of deep relaxation that emphasizes the meditative aspect of yoga—the union of body and mind. Through the use of props for support, many of the postures are held almost effortlessly. When the body enters a state of relaxation the mind can also consciously relax as tension is released from both body and mind.

All Levels Yoga- A gentle class  focusing on flowing from pose to pose and linking the movement with the breath. The instructor will offer a variety of modifications to encourage options for all bodies. This is a great class for all yogis, a mix and well rounded fun practice from the more seasoned practitioner, to the brand new student.

Strength & Faith - This strength class is like none other you’ve experienced before.  All exercise levels are welcome and options for all will be provided.  We will use light hand weights or body weight to strengthen and tone while focusing on our inner health and wellness.  Classes are faith based; starting with scripture, working through the application of spiritual wellness to our lives and ending with prayer and intention.

Tai Chi Ch’uan- Tai Chi Ch’uan is an ancient Chinese discipline involving a continuous series of controlled slow movements of meditative design to improve physical and mental well-being. The first half of class is our cultivation work: revitalizing the 5 Yin organs, lubricating the joints, and gently stimulating Qi flow in the Meridians. The Water Tai Chi method follows. This Yang style set of four 'lessons' is repeated with a variety of visualizations meant to enhance the student's inner dialogue.
