As a licensed counselor Sara’s goal is to help clients build good strategies, coping mechanisms and skills so they can feel more prepared to lead a healthy, successful and fulfilled life. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process between the client and counselor. Her hope to create an empathetic, warm and non-judgmental environment for clients so they can feel comfortable expressing their feelings and emotions so they can fully benefit from the counseling experience.

Sara has been working in the mental health field in St Mary’s County since 2011 as a counselor as well as in the hospital emergency room with psychiatric patients. This experience has helped her to acquire knowledge in multiple approaches and techniques including cognitive behavioral, psycho-education, mindfulness, psychodynamic techniques and client centered therapy. This has afforded Sara the opportunity to work with all manner of problems from mild depression and anxiety to the more severe and chronic mental health diagnoses in all age groups.

Fun facts: Sara enjoys relaxing on the boat at the lake with her family, cooking and baking for those she loves and visiting the mountains whenever she can.
