Have you ever been thrust into situations you don’t feel prepared to handle?

Or felt frustrated with the instability and uncertainty of certain lifestyles?

Have you had more than enough huge life adjustments?

As a military spouse and veteran, I’m familiar with (and have lived experience of ) deployments and PCS-ing every 2-3 years. There is a unique sense of panic that we face when we are required to uproot our entire lives (hurry up and wait, am I right?!) and while I realize that not every person seeking services is connected to the military, the communities I’ve lived in as a result of my own connection have given me ample exposures to a variety of lifestyles. I make it my priority to sit with clients through the difficult thoughts and feelings, assist in processing them, and then cheer for them as they manage the surprises life hands them like a pro!

The trainings and certifications I maintain in cognitive processing and trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapies have prepared me to work with a multitude of presenting problems related to trauma and other life stressors. Experiences collaborating with service members, law enforcement, legal resources, educators, and medical professionals have provided me the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and understanding.

My work experience is not limited to my mental health profession. As a young adult I was determined to live independently and joined the Air Force. I found that I was drawn to mentoring and leadership. In the 16+ years I have spent living outside the United States, I have been given innumerable opportunities to gain valuable perspective on different ways of living and solving problems. After starting a family, I chose to pursue a career outside the military in the field of education. It was eye-opening and rewarding to work alongside some of the bravest and most influential professionals I’ve encountered. Realizing I was particularly passionate about working with children and families, I decided to shift my career goals for a third time and complete my degree in Clinical Social Work.

I’ve been working with children, adolescents, and families for over 20 years and can genuinely say that each life experience, redirection, hurdle, derailment, etc. has placed me exactly where I am today – hoping that you will trust me with your story and struggle enough to sit with you through the muck.

I can’t promise anything will be better, but I can promise, you will get better at dealing with it and you won’t be alone.
